Great trip!

This trip was incredibly well planned, the right amount of students, and on a topic that is timely. I’m so grateful for Jackie and the EdOdyssey team for organzing a trip that broadened my understanding of aging in Japan and introduced me to Japanese culture, current events, and a different way of addressing similar problems to the US. Jackie’s personal relationships with many of our guest speakers was an experience that I could never have replicated, and benefitted our learning. Having Yuki and Reed and the other translators was essential, and also enhanced my learning experience. Even though some activities on our itinerary were cancelled, I still felt as though we had enough going on. In fact, we might have had too much going on if we followed the itinerary exactly!

A well coordinated study and travel experience that was supported by helpful guides, support people and translators. It integrated a broad regional, cultural, and dietary experience in a short period of time.

I really can’t rave enough about this trip and class. I learned so much and got to do so many things I’d never have been able to experience as a tourist. Jackie’s community connections were EVERYTHING—she is so well-connected and has so much knowledge, and I’m grateful for her generosity in sharing all of that with us. I can’t describe how lucky I feel to have been a part of this, and I hope this course can be repeated over and over for the benefit of many more students!
